چکیده

Dermatophytoses is a fungal infection responsible for cutaneous mycoses caused by dermatophytes, classification of filamentous fungi and queratinofílicos, able to degrade keratin present in skin, nails hair. This public health problem that affects 20 25% the world's population. The infections dermatophytes reach mainly developing countries, hot humid climate, factors promote your spread. principal genera dermatophytes: Trichophyton, Microsporum Epidermophyton. For treatment dermatophytoses antifungal medications are used irrational use these drugs has contributed increase resistance against dermatophytes. Thus, this study aimed analyze profile causing face main antifungals highlight importance adequate treatment. We performed review scientific literature was conducted based on databases Bireme, PubMed, Scielo, Google Scholar, Science Research ResearchGate, considering articles published between 2014 2019. Were as key words: tinea, dermatophytoses, national international. found 127 articles, after reading titles, abstracts texts, did not refer chosen theme were excluded. rates commonly increasing measures such avoiding misuse, without medical guidance, inadequate doses stopping before cure, can contribute reduction numbers. In addition, we need studies development new therapeutic options orientation rational antifungals.

Dermatophytes: host-pathogen interaction and antifungal resistance.

Cutaneous mycoses are among the most common infections in humans and have become an important public health issue because they cause invasive infections in immunocompromised patients. During the infectious process, dermatophyte-host interactions trigger specific metabolic adaptations that allow the pathogen to adhere to and penetrate the host tissue, scavenge nutrients, and overcome the host de...

Resistance and tolerance mechanisms to antifungal drugs in fungal pathogens

Fungal pathogens are using several mechanisms to circumvent the inhibitory actions of antifungal drugs. The variety of these mechanisms was revealed in recent years by several laboratories with molecular approaches. Besides the identification of genes involved in antifungal drug resistance and the discovery of alternative pathways of resistance (i.e. biofilm formation), novel concepts in the un...

Antifungal Resistance and New Strategies to Control Fungal Infections

Despite improvement of antifungal therapies over the last 30 years, the phenomenon of antifungal resistance is still of major concern in clinical practice. In the last 10 years the molecular mechanisms underlying this phenomenon were extensively unraveled. In this paper, after a brief overview of currently available antifungals, molecular mechanisms of antifungal resistance will be detailed. It...

Antifungal effect of silver nanoparticles on dermatophytes.

Spherical silver nanoparticles (nano-Ag) were synthesized and their antifungal effects on fungal pathogens of the skin were investigated. Nano-Ag showed potent activity against clinical isolates and ATCC strains of Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Candida species (IC80, 1-7 microg/ml). The activity of nano-Ag was comparable to that of amphotericin B, but superior to that of fluconazole (amphoter...

Antifungal activity of plant extracts against dermatophytes.

The aqueous extracts (15 micrograms ml-1 medium) of 22 plants used in folkloric medicine in Palestine were investigated for their antifungal activity and minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) against nine isolates of Microsporum canis, Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Trichophyton violaceum. The extract of the different plant species reduced colony growth of the three dermatophytes by 36 to 1...
